Our Story

"Here I Am" by Kath D.
Momma B and I met in the modern way - online.  She passed up my profile initially, but luckily gave me a second look after I e-flirted with her about her phenomenal red hair.  We were inseparable from the very beginning.  Thankfully, we were both at the stage in life where the bullshit doesn't matter any more and the games have ended.  We laid out our dreams, passions, and goals from the start.  The old joke says a lesbian brings the U-Haul on the second date, we at least waited 3 weeks!  Yep, we wasted NO time.  I proposed 8 months later and we finally got domestic partnered in March 2011.  (We're holding off on any ceremonies until we can do it right; of course we're assuming that California will finally legalize gay marriage.  If that doesn't happen anytime soon though, I may have to make an honest woman of her with or without the law.)

A few stats:
  • Momma L: Labor and Delivery Nurse, amateur knitter/crocheter/seamstress/baker, collects recipes, loves hiking and camping, and thinks she may be the next Julia Child (in her next life)
  • Momma B: Sales Rep for the largest US food corporation, outdoor photographer, car singer, and loves any outside activity (including hiking and camping), football, and spoiling Momma L as she so rightly deserves

I couldn't have asked for a better partner to raise a child with and I am glad to be at a point in my life where I am finally ready for a family.  At 34 35, I just shrug and say better late than never.  I'm a late bloomer.

This is my space to share my experiences, my thoughts, my joys and my fears.  It is a space that may be named on my sexuality and my experience as a lesbian mother, but it will not be defined by these limitations as I believe my experiences will be far more universal.
